Bruce Bosse, Chief Executive Officer and stockholder at Merit Construction, has been an integral part of the growth of Merit since he joined the company as a Project Manager in 1983. He served as Vice President from 1984 to 1995, President from 1995 to 2016, President/CEO from 2016 to 2017 and currently serves as CEO. Bruce holds a Bachelor of Science degree in building construction from Purdue University.

Bruce can be credited as one of the catalysts of Merit Construction, having helped drive the firm’s growth from a small construction company with a few employees to a prominent regional general contractor. He built the business on hard work and the relentless pursuit of excellence while surrounding himself with loyal and dedicated people. He exemplifies Merit’s motto of “building on merit and integrity.”

Bruce has been very involved in the Knoxville community through his service in Leadership Knoxville, the University of Tennessee Chancellor’s Associates, the Knoxville Community Development Corporation’s Board of Commissioners, the City of Knoxville Building Board of Adjustments and Appeals, Nucleus Knoxville, the Knoxville Chamber, the Salvation Army, the Knox County Board of Construction Appeals and the Historic Tennessee Theatre Board. Bruce has also been an active member of his professional community having held leadership roles in the Associated General Contractors-Knoxville Branch and the City of Knoxville’s Industrial Development Board. Bruce currently serves on the Board of Directors for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.

Bruce enjoys travel with his family and outdoor activities including hiking and boating. He and his wife, Sharon, have two grown children.
